fire is plasma, which in greek is alive. the sun may not be a fusion ball, but a metallic hydrogen plasma. when you look at different scales of existence the definition of life changes. is AI alive? it might defy entropy by changing random 0's and 1's into ordered 1's and 0's. that's why i put the entropy definition of life in my article. to get people to think outside of standard biology

The fact that you can just put your own definition is the problem. This is quite clearly to me all arbitrary. "life" is basically just movement that causes an emotional response in us. A type of movement to which we ourselves inherently belong. But that movement is like an ocean wave. It doesn't change the fact that water is still water and just as "dead" moving or not. Basically, either you're a materialist or you aren't, and if you are then "life" has a bureaucratic meaning, not an objective one. The only objective difference between materials in this context with objective merit is phenomenal consciousness. A wave can't feel things. Arrange water such that it starts feeling and you finally have a true new state of matter. That's my read on the whole thing. Apparently movement somewhere is required for consciousness. My vitrified human also stops being able to feel expressly because it stops being able to move. Transmitters don't transmit.
