Perhaps many of your readers also feel too deficient .. or too modest to reply and discuss your revolutionary ideas? I am perplexed by the silence too. I love having my mind "blown", my ideas about this life dissolved and trashed...something your writing regularly achieves. Inner work is my life work. Suffering is a central concept, something to. be mitigated, transcended. denied... but I have never seen it treated as criminal if that is a fair way to characterize your idea? You live like a saint...of course your inner life is full of riches! this has been my experience of life too... when I became wealthy I lost all that. I became human..such a detriment! Maslow and Skinner are theoreticians... but experience is truly the only teacher worth having.
Awww! Thank you! I don't really feel like I have readers. So it's really nice to hear all that. What a massive trove of uplifting words! Speaking of words, 'criminal' is a clever choice there. That's exactly what all this 100% worthless suffering is. Criminal against any rational or ethical sense of justice, as in that which is intrinsically just, not merely instrumentally profitable. Thus I'm reminded of being asked which is more important, justice or mercy, and I felt on some level that if justice were omnipresent mercy would be superfluous because crime as you framed it in this context would never occur as it is definitionally unjust.
The whole notion of punishment is stupid. You can't undo suffering by adding more suffering. You're always chasing an instrumental good, and by definition then it's better to seek the good directly. Cut out the middle men.
So I'm hesitant to talk about the advantages of adversity. Seems like the worst elements of the world latch on to that type thing as an excuse to abuse people. The whole "build's character" crowd makes me wanna set fires. But I am forced by rigorous thinking to admit that my whole thing did come from experience. In a very real sense I was born for and into this, conflict(?). I was damaged immediately on arrival. However I would gladly live in a universe without wisdom such that horror provides, if the pay off was a complete lack of horror for anyone, though I dispute the equivalence with all my being as I feel we can have both.
After all, it's easy to imagine a kind and gentle, yet effective teacher. The universe itself should emulate that model. The fact that it so grossly wallows in sadism is exactly the crime you speak of. I'd rather prevent it than punish it.

Nevertheless, what is your point in trying to make a seemingly irreverent concept revelant? With the set of issues that humanity faces at the moment, genocides, climate issues and the. Threats of nuclear wars, all other issues!concepts take a back seat to the existential crisisesvwe all face.

Thanks for your comments. I think simplicity is the most important factor of life. I love the KISS analogy, as in keeping things simple . I.e., getting rid of nuclear weapons is as simple a concept as it gets, but quite another matter to make it happen.
In nature for instance, life evolves because of a simple conditions, run faster , you eat and live. Simple yes, doable not so simple.
I think homelessness, or rather the threat of homelessness, is one of the most invidious conditions in the human condition. It drives competition, rewards aggressiveness, cunning and helplessness by those who cannot function at a level that is driving humanity towards extinction.

I agree. Seeking simplicity is key. Parsimony they call it. Occam's razor. That's what makes EE so elegant. It's a deletion at heart, not a construction. And yes, Maslow was right, the more deprived we are the less our authentic selves.

Didn’t Maslow talk about self - actualization ? If so, as others have voiced in blogs lately, how can one become actualized in sick society, or within the meandering tentacles of unmitigated fascism?
They cannot authentically. :( That's a massive part of the collective action trap we're in. But still in the collaborator class there's still a lot of personal agency. We could see symbolic resistance at minimum but we don't. We don't even see "thoughts and prayers" level lip service.
“Lip service.” Greta Thunberg calls the condition “empty words”. Puppets on strings made of Money. Walking into a bank with patrons waiting to be enslaved by Masters gives me the feeling that nobody knows anything about anything. The song from Snow White with a dwarf singing the tune “ Hi Ho , Hi Ho, off to work I go” sounds more to me like “ I owe, I owe, off to work we go” …
My two sons have been evicted at least 20 times collectively… Seems like the old man forgot to teach them about the real world.
